Joy Ellen King Means of Pennsylvania and Tampa, Florida, died Saturday, August 21, 2004, in Morgantown, West Virginia. She was born in Hillsdale, Indiana County, Pa., on December 11, 1912, to Besse V. (Smith) King and the Rev. William B. King, the Pastor of Percy Methodist Church in the mid-1930’s.

Joy was preceded in death by two brothers, Smith F. King and William H. King, her husband, Charles Milton Means, and her parents.

She is survived by four children: Milton W. Means and his spouse Jean Sisler Means, Gail E. (Pope) Bossart and her spouse Steven Bossart, Mary Ellen Means Neumeister and David K. Means and his spouse Doris Dash Means; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren; a sister, Geraldine King MacWilliams; and two brothers: Leonard E. King and Guy R. King.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 25, 2004, at 11 a.m. in FIRST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 106 North Street, West Newton, Pa. Pastor David King Means will officiate.

Burial will be beside her husband, Charles Milton Means (1909-1976), in Sylvan Heights Cemetery, Uniontown, Pa. Charles was the youngest son of W. H. Means, M.D., and Sibyl Carroll Means of Percy, Pa.
