Indianapolis signed on as Pirates’ new Triple-A team

1 min read

PITTSBURGH (AP) – The Pittsburgh Pirates signed a two-year working agreement Monday with the Triple-A Indianapolis Indians of the American Association. The Indians replace the Nashville Sounds as the Pirates’ top farm club. The Indians previously were affiliated with the Milwaukee Brewers.

The Indians have played since 1996 in Victory Field, a 12,500-seat stadium selected by several publications as the best ballpark in minor league baseball. The downtown stadium is located across the street from the RCA Dome, where the Indianapolis Colts play.

The Pirates have been concerned for several years about the playing conditions in Nashville, which has one of the oldest and least-attractive ballparks in the upper-level minors.
