William Edward Houck Sr.
William Edward Houck Sr., age 77, of Uniontown, Pa., passed away peacefully at home Saturday evening, September 18, 2004, with his loving family by his side after a brief illness.
He was born November 25, 1926, in Latrobe, Pa., the son of Michael Andrew Houck Sr. and Marie Antoinette Pearson Houck.
“Bill” graduated from the former Redstone Township High School.
He served in the United States Navy Seabees in the Pacific during World War II.
He was a coal miner for Leisenring 3 Monarch Mine, a welding instructor for Fayette Institute of Technology in Uniontown, and a van driver for Community Action.
He was a lifetime member of V.F.W. Post 47 in Uniontown.
“Bill” was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Michael Andrew Houck Jr., a sister, Elizabeth Marie Houck Yourich, and his son-in-law, Ronald Edward Ridley.
He will be sadly missed by his beloved wife of 54 years, Dorothy Mae Moxley Houck; three sons: William Edward Houck Jr. of Conneaut, Pa., Fred Thomas Houck of Uniontown, Pa., and Major John William Houck and his wife, Dianna, of Dayton, Ohio; two daughters: Susan Renee Ridley and George Matthews of Hopwood, Pa., and Lori Jean Kadar and husband, Thomas, of Uniontown; 14 grandchildren: Scott William Houck and his wife, Amy Marie, of Mount Lebanon, Pa., Joseph Michael Houck and his wife, Jamie Lynne, of Pleasant Hills, Pa., Elizabeth Ann Randolph and her husband, Brian Fitzgerald, of Pleasant Hills, Ryan Edward Ridley, Chad Allan Ridley, Staci Renee Ridley, Alyssa Marie Kadar, Kayla Renee Kadar, Cory David Houck, Jessica Christine Houck and Nickolas Dean Houck; two great grandsons: Aidan Scott Houck and Joseph James Houck; a favorite cousin, Norma Jean Zacovic of Uniontown; several nieces and nephews; and numerous friends.
Friends will be received in the STEPHEN E. KEZMARSKY III FUNERAL HOME AT 71 PENNSYLVANIA AVENUE, UNIONTOWN, Pa., on Tuesday, September 21, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday morning, September 22, until 9:30 a.m. when a Blessing Service will be held in the Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Father William J. Kiel officiating.
Entombment will follow in the Chapel of Memories Mausoleum, Sylvan Heights Cemetery, Uniontown.
Military Honors will be accorded at the gravesite.

Parish Wake Service will be held in the Funeral Home on Tuesday at 8:30 p.m.
