North Fayette Area Vo-Tech offers night classes
CONNELLSVILLE – Kenneth J. Parker, vocational director of the North Fayette Area Vocational Technical School, announced that registration for adult classes will be held on Tuesday from 4 to 6 p.m. Parker stresses that registration will be on a first come first serve basis. After Sept. 28 students can register during school hours from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The fee for each class covers the instruction only. Additional charges are for textbooks and consumed materials as required by individual classes. Textbooks, safety equipment and supplies will be the responsibility of the student. All fees are payable in full upon registration and are not refundable after the first night of class. Cash only will be accepted for registration. Parker said the administration reserves the right to cancel classes due to insufficient enrollment, or change of schedules and/or instructors as necessary. The following classes are scheduled to begin the week of Oct. 11:
Auto body
Students can learn the basic methods in auto body repairs, restoration, collision, mig welding, body fillers, priming, sanding, and base coat clear coat refinishing. Students can also learn custom painting techniques such as flames marble and flip flop colors used by House of Kolors. Students are permitted to work on personal cars and motorcycles on a scheduled basis. All supplies are to be purchased by the owner. Class size is limited to 12 students.
Starts: Oct 11 – Classes meet on Mondays and Wednesdays
Time: 5 to 9 p.m.
Hours: eight weeks for a total of 64 hours
Fee: $125 (does not include paint and supplies)

Welding
This class is designed to teach practical techniques to use at home or for a new job. Students must provide their own protective clothing. The instructor will put the emphasis on mig, tig, stick welding, plasma arc cutting and oxyacetylene. In addition, mig and shielded metal arc welding carbon steel, tig on aluminum and carbon steel, plasma cutting on all metals.
Starts: Oct. 13 – Classes meet on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
Time: 5 to 9 p.m.
Hours: eight weeks for a total of 64 hours
