Ruth Naomi Philips
Ruth Naomi Broadwater Philips, age 79, of Hopwood, Pa., died Sunday, September 26, 2004, in Uniontown Hospital, Uniontown, Pa. She was born January 21, 1925, in Thompson Two, Fayette County, Pa., daughter of Harry Broadwater and Margaret Hackney Broadwater.
She was formerly employed as Manager of the Farm Fresh Convenience Store, Morgantown Street, Uniontown, Pa., for many years until her retirement in 1986.
Ruth was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church in Uniontown.
She was predeceased by her husband, Donald M. Philips Sr. in 1969, her daughter, Sandra Hixon, son-in-law, Pete Hixon, and her parents.
Surviving are three children: William Broadwater formerly of Carmichaels, Pa., Donald M. Philips Jr. and wife, Cindy, of Uniontown, Pa., and Linda Hixon and husband, Bill, of Hopwood, Pa.; six grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and her sister, Mary Jane Rachesky of Burton, Ohio; and a special friend, Tina VanSickle of Hopwood.
The family will receive friends in the DEAN C. WHITMARSH FUNERAL HOME, 134 West Church Street, Fairchance, Pa., today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and on Wednesday, September 29, until 11 a.m., the hour of the Service with the Rev. Gerald Capan officiating.
Private interment will follow in Sylvan Heights Cemetery, Uniontown.
