Paul “Lanky” Volansky, age 79, of Gallatin, Fayette County, Pa., died on Thursday, April 14, 2005, in Mount Macrina Nursing Home, Uniontown, Pa.

He was born on March 1, 1926, in Grays Landing, Pa., a son of Andrew and Sophie (Baran) Volansky.

Paul proudly served his country during World War II in the United States Army.

He was a member of United Mine Workers of America District 2.

His parents, a sister, Frances M. Merti, and brothers, Andrew and Joseph Volansky, preceded him in death.

He is survived by: a brother, John Volansky of Grays Landing, Pa.; two sisters: Mrs. Sue Belch of Uniontown, Pa., and Mrs. Helen Guglielmetti of Tampa, Florida; and many nieces and nephews.

He will be deeply missed by his very close nephew, Rick Merti and his wife, Robin, of Uniontown, Pa.; and great-nieces, Emily Merti and Claire Merti.

Friends will be received in the HAKY FUNERAL HOME, A Dignity Memorial Provider, 515 North Main Street, Masontown, Pa., today (Monday, April 18) until 11 a.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial follows at 11:30 a.m. in Saint Mary (Our Lady of Perpetual Help) Roman Catholic Church, Leckrone, Pa., with the Rev. Father Donald Trexler as Celebrant.

Interment will follow at Sylvan Heights Cemetery, Uniontown, Pa.

In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to the “Make-A-Wish” Foundation, 555 Grant Street, Suite 425, Pittsburgh PA 15219.

Visitation was also held Sunday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.
