James Edward McMannes Sr.

James Edward McMannes Sr., 56, of Mather, Pa., formerly of Newville, died Thursday, Aug. 4, 2005, in UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh. Mr. McMannes was a 1969 graduate of Jefferson-Morgan High School.

He retired from the U.S. Navy and served during the Vietnam War. After his military service, he worked at Allen Distribution in Carlisle as a forklift operator and dock foreman.

Surviving are five children, James Edward McMannes Jr., and wife, Sue of Virginia Beach, Va., Christina L. O’Niel and husband, Cory of Virginia Beach, Va., Robbin L. McMannes of East Earl, Michael D. McMannes of Carlisle, and Deborah C. Mellott and husband, Jason of Carlisle; two grandchildren, Anthony James Mellott and Tiffany Marie Mellott; a brother, Lester T. McMannes and wife, Nellie of Radcliff, Ky.; and four sisters, Mrs. Harvey (Mary Ann) Patterson of Pensacola,, Fla., Mrs. Michael (Beatrice) Tehi of Wadsworth, Ohio, Mrs. Earl (Sharlee) Sanner of Waynesburg, and Mrs. Donald (Connie) Townsend of Navarre, Ohio.

Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m., today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., on Sunday in the Behm Funeral Homes Inc., 1477 Jefferson Rd., Jefferson, where services will be held at 1 p.m., on Monday, Aug. 8, 2005.
