Dr. E. W. Bixler

Dr. E. W. Bixler, 81, of 1760 Fredna Ave., Williamsport, Pa., went to be with his Lord on Friday, Aug. 12, 2005, at home. A pastor for 56 years, he served at the Emmanuel Baptist Church for 21 years, until 1995. He founded the Williamsport Christian School in 1971, and taught a bible class there until May of this year. Dr. Bixler received his B.A. from the Tennessee Temple University in Chattanooga, and his Masters and Doctorate degrees from Andersonville Seminary in Atlanta, Ga.

Surviving are his wife, Velma J. Stephenson Bixler; sons, the Rev. David K. (Debra M.) of Williamsport, Randy E. of Madison Heights, Va., the Rev. Ronald A. (Lisa M.) of Montgomery and Mark D. (Lisa A.) of Colchester, Vt.; a daughter, M. Ruth (Rev. Ken) Scoggins of Chamblissburg, Va.; 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Friends may call at the church, 1730 Four Mile Drive, Williamsport on Monday from 6 to 9 p.m., and on Tuesday from 1 ro 2 p.m., the hour of service. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Williamsport Christian School, 1730 Four Mile Drive, Williamsport, PA 17701.
