Barbara Wasas Takach

Barbara Wasas Takach, age 97, of Brownsville (Centerville Borough), Pa., died unexpectedly on Saturday, August 13, 2005, at 11:15 p.m. in her home. She was born June 18, 1908, in Hungary, the daughter of John Wasas and Julia Nostonvich Wasas.

Mrs. Takach was a longtime member of Holy Resurrection Russian Orthodox Church in West Brownsville.

She had been a homemaker and enjoyed reading.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Michael Takach, two brothers, Joseph Wasas and John Wasas, and a son-in-law, William Kuzemka.

Surviving are a son, Steve Takach and his wife, Margaret, of Palm Harbor, Florida; two daughters: Dorothy Takach Kuzemka of Centerville, Pa., and Kathleen Takach Burgess of Boulder, Colorado; six grandchildren: Mark Takach, Stephen Takach, Debra Boehm, Barbara Baker, Michelle Burgess and Christopher Burgess; and five great grandchildren: Danielle Baker, Roman Boehm, Alexy Boehm, Slava Boehm and Christin Takach. Mrs. Takach was the last of her immediate family.

Friends will be received in the JOHN B. GREENLEE FUNERAL HOME, 2830 Main Street (Route 40), Beallsville, Pa., on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. where Prayers will be said on Wednesday, August 17, at 9:15 a.m.

Funeral Services follow at 10 a.m. in Holy Resurrection Russian Orthodox Church, 110 Main Street, West Brownsville, with the Rev. Father Samuel Smolcic as Celebrant.

Interment will follow in Saint Michael’s Greek Catholic Cemetery, Donora, Pa.

A Prayer Service will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday at 8:30 p.m.
