Joseph F. Cortes
Joseph F. Cortes, age 78, of Newboro, Pa., died Friday, August 12, 2005, in the Uniontown Hospital, Uniontown, Pa. He was born May 28, 1927, in Isabella, Pa., the son of Josephine (Favorite) Cortes and the late Fernando Cortes.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Marita Kret.
Joseph was a member of The Church of The Madonna in Cardale, Pa., and the New Salem American Legion Post 753.
He was a veteran of World War II who served in the United States Navy.
He retired from Maple Creek and the Karen Mines.
In addition to his mother, Josephine Cortes, he is survived by his wife, Mary Ann (Lecea) Cortes; two daughters: Judy Richnavsky and husband, Frank, of Garrettsville, Ohio, and Rosanne Kret and husband, James, of Masontown, Pa.; the following grandchildren: Rebecca Diwan and husband Tayyab, Stacia Wright and husband Brian, Matthew Richnavsky and wife Valissa, and Regina Watson and husband Grant; three great-grandchildren: Kira, Campbell and Tobias; two sisters: Adeline Kiec of Republic, Pa., and Dolores Pavlitsa and husband, Richard, of Uniontown, Pa.; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends will be received in the ROBERT T. KISH FUNERAL HOME INC., 20 NORTH MILL STREET, NEW SALEM, Pa. (Note change in location) today (Monday, August 15) from 10:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m., when a Prayer Service will be held.
A Mass of Christian Burial follows at 12 p.m. in The Church of The Madonna, Cardale, Pa., with the Rev. Father Stephen Bugay as Celebrant.
Interment will follow in Saint Thomas Cemetery, Footedale, Pa., where Military Honors will be accorded by General George C. Marshall AMVETS Post 103 of Hopwood, Pa.
Visitation was also held Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m.
A Parish Wake Service was held on Sunday at 3:30 P.M.
