Alberta Lowery Leonard

Alberta Lowery Leonard, 85, of Ohiopyle, Pa., passed away Friday, Aug. 19, 2005, in King’s Personal Care Home, where she was a resident for the past three years. She was born Oct. 13, 1919, in Uniontown, daughter of the late Albert and Odessa Bryner Lowery.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Odbert “Ollie” Leonard in January of 1999, a great-grandson, Derek Turner, four brothers, Dalton, Dale, Robert and Roger Lowery, three sisters, May Lowery, Iola Lowery and Martha Shartiger.

Surviving are three children, Judy R. Spaw and husband, Danny of Farmington, Lawrence “Sonny” Leonard and wife, Lois of Ohiopyle, and Vivian Snyder and husband, William of North Pole, Alaska; seven grandchildren, Melody Turner, Cindy Rugg, Heather Kopacko, Randy Leonard, Ronald Leonard, Cristy Glazo and C.J. Snyder; 14 great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren; and two brothers and a sister, Albert “Bert” Lowry and wife, Mary Margaret of Farmington, the Rev. Reuben Lowery and wife, Caroline of Fort Scott, Kan., and Edith Wallace and husband, Tom of Uniontown.

Alberta was a member of Oak Grove Methodist Church of Ohiopyle. She served as Stewart Township Secretary for many years and was a member of the Ohiopyle Grange No. 1933.

Friends will be received in the DONALD R. CRAWFORD FUNERAL HOME OF FARMINGTON, today from 7 to 9 p.m., Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and Tuesday until 11 a.m., the hour of the service, with the Revs. Peter Malik, Travis Dean and Reuben Lowery officiating. Interment will follow in Irwin Memorial Cemetery. A very special thanks to the owners and staff of King’s Personal Care Home for their outstanding help.
