Laurel Highlands release information on opening of schools
Laurel Highlands School District officials have released the following information for the 2005-2006 school year. High school homeroom assignments will be posted on the high school lobby doors on Wednesday at 9 a.m.
Students who plan to attend the middle or high School who have not registered should contact the appropriate school this week between the hours of 8 a.m. and 2 p.m.
Freshman orientation will be held on Thursday at 1 p.m. in the high school auditorium. Schedules for high school students will not be available until the start of school. Bus Schedules were in the Herald-Standard on Wednesday, Aug. 17.
Driving applications can be picked up in the high school office after Wednesday. Parking fees are $30 a year.
On the first day of school, Monday, Aug. 29, high school students will report directly to their homerooms. Students’ schedules, emergency cards (must be taken home, completed, signed by parent/guardian, and returned to school by Sept. 12), locker assignments and combination locks will be distributed to new students at that time.
Returning students are reminded to bring their lock back to school to ensure the safety of their valuables. Students are to make sure they know their bus number when arriving at school.
Fayette County Area Vocational-Technical School assignments for the first and second semester will be posted on the lobby doors as well. All students at the at the high school will be dismissed at 2:11 p.m. All students’ high school pictures will be taken Tuesday, Aug. 30 for student identification cards.
Adult all-year athletic season passes and student year athletic passes for high school students, middle school students and elementary students can be purchased at the high school office Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. This offer is only good until Wednesday, Aug. 31. The first 100 passes sold will receive a free T-shirt.
There will be student season passes sold at the elementary schools the first week of school only.
All varsity football tickets at the gate are $4 general admission, $5 reserved seat.
Volleyball, girls soccer and boys soccer tickets at the gate are $3.
No student tickets will be sold at the gate for any sporting event. Children of pre-school age are admitted for no charge.
The first home football game will be Friday at 7:30 p.m. against West Allegheny, which will be followed by the first school dance, sponsored by the cheerleaders, which will end at 11 p.m., cost $3.
Individual student game tickets will only be sold at the high school office anytime for $2 between 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. You may also purchase a student ticket from Mr. John at the middle school.
All-year sports passes are available in the high school office from Liz daily from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Football reserve seat season passes are $25 for an adult all-year sports pass, but are $15 if bought before Wednesday, Aug. 31. Student all-year sports passes are $10.
All school cafeterias will be in full operation serving meals on the first day of school, Breakfast at all schools is $1, high school lunches are $2, while elementary lunches are $1.75.
All families will receive the free lunch application via your student in homeroom the first day of school. This must be completed (even if an application was done last year) and returned to the school before Sept. 15.
Students and parents self tour days at the middle school will be Thursday, Aug. 25, and Friday, Aug. 26, from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.
