Michael Marvin Szolck
Michael Marvin Szolek, age 55, of Dogwood Lane, Acme, Pa., died Monday evening, August 22, 2005 in his residence. Mike was a member of Pennsville Baptist Church, Pennsville, Pa.
He was formerly employed by Elliott Company as a machinist with 20 years of service and a former employee of Lenox Crystal of Mount Pleasant with four years of service.
Mike was a veteran of the United States Armed Forces serving the United States Army, First Calvary Division during Vietnam Era attaining the rank of Sp5. He was the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal and two Bronze Service Stars, the Bronze Star Medal, the Aircraft Crewman Badge and the Air Medal Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal.
Mike was a volunteer for the Mountain Water Shed Association of Indian Creek for the past six years.
He was a life member of the Mount Pleasant American Legion Post 446 and a member of the Mount Pleasant VFW post, the Kosciuszko Club of Mount Pleasant, the Bridgeport Sportsman Club and the Scottdale Eagles 1007.
In addition to his father, Michael E. Szolck of Scottdale, Mike leaves to cherish his memories his loving and devoted sons: Michael David Szolek and his wife, Robin Lee of Acme, Douglas Adam Szolek of Bellingham, Wash. And Jason Patrick Szolek of Acme; his sister, Dorothy Erwin and her husband Russell J., of Fredonia; his brother, Charles “Chuck” Szolek and his wife Linda of Scottdale; numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Mike’s family will greet friends in the Frank Kapr Funeral Home, Inc., 417 West Pittsburgh Street, Scottdale, Pa., on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
His Funeral Service will be held on Friday at 10 a.m. in the Funeral home.
