Joseph Franczek Jr.
Joseph Franczek, Jr., 84, of Nemacolin, Pa. and formerly of Carmichaels, Pa., died at 4:45 a.m., on Tuesday, August 23, 2005 at Rolling Meadows Nursing Home, Waynesburg, Pa. He was born March 8, 1921, in Mount Pleasant Township, Westmoreland County, Pa., a son of the late Joseph and Mary Pokracki Franczek.
Mr. Franczek served with the United States Army during World War II and retired from the U. S. Steel Robena Mine. He resided in Cumberland Township nearly all of his married life and was a member of the Robena Local of the United Mine Workers of America and the Brooks-Crago American Legion Post 816 of Rices Landing, Pa.
On February 6, 1943, he married Carolyn Kash, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons: Joseph A. Franczek and his wife, Janet, of Madison, Ohio, and Harold M. Franczek and his wife, Linda, of Mentor, Ohio; six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; four brothers, Stanley Franczek and his wife, Jean, of Parma, Ohio, John Franczek and his wife, Dorothy, of South Carolina, Raymond Franczek and his wife, Nattily, of Berlin, Ohio, and Frank Franczek and his wife, Roseanne, of Eastlake, Ohio; three sisters: Cathryn Shulock and her husband, Nick, of Donora, Pa., Rosalia Zimkosky and her husband, Ron, of Ohio and Barbara Single and husband, Dan, of Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are a great-grandchild, a brother, James Franczek and three sisters: Annie Franczek who died in childhood, Alice Livingston and Mary Yatsko.
Family and friends are welcomed from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P. M. today in the YOSKOVICH FUNERAL HOME, Martin J. Yoskovich, Funeral Director, 300 South Vine Street (Route 88), Carmichaels, Pa. (724-966-5500) where funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Friday, August 26, 2005, with the Rev. Domenick Sgro officiating. Interment will follow at Laurel Point Cemetery, Carmichaels with full military honors accorded by American Legion Post 816.
