James F. Chew Sr.
James F. Chew Sr., 82, of Denbeau Heights, Pa., passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2005, at his home. He was born on April 3, 1923, at The California College Farm in California, Pa., son of the late Phillip and Susan Elliot Chew.
Mr. Chew was employed by Fox Grocery until his retirement. He was a veteran of World War II, serving his country in the United States Army and also with the Military Police at Indiantown Gap. He was a member of the Centerville American Legion Post No. 705, and the Victory Club in Denbo.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by one son, Gary Chew; one grandson, Ray DeBerry Jr.; two sisters, Elizabeth Lutes and Dorothy Chew Pettitt; and one nephew, Phillip Dwayne Lutes.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Ida A. Wilson Chew; three children, James F. Chew Jr., at home, Robert Chew and his wife, Donna of Uniontown, Pa., and Susan DeBerry of Denbeau Heights; one granddaughter, Ashley DeBerry of Denbeau Heights; one sister, Doris Landman of Low Hill; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received in THE SKIRPAN FUNERAL HOME, 135 Park St., Brownsville, Pa., today from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m., and on Saturday, where a funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., with the Rev. Jana Quisenberry officiating. Interment will follow in LaFayette Memorial Park, where full military rites will be accorded by Centerville American Legion Post No. 705.
