The Rev. Robert C. Ford
The Rev. Robert C. Ford, 77, of Uniontown, Pa., died Thursday, Aug. 25, 2005, in his home, with his loving family by his side and went to be with his Savior and Lord Jesus Christ. He was born Nov. 8, 1927, in Dayton, Ohio, son of the late Frank Ford and Esther Fowler Ford.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army. Bob was employed as a Cable Splicer for over 42 years with the former Bell Atlantic and current Verizon Telephone companies until his retirement in 1990. He also served as Pastor of the Falls City Baptist Church of Ohiopyle, the First Baptist Church of Fairchance, and pulpit supply for many of the area churches for the past 25 years.
He was a member of the Great Bethel Baptist Church of Uniontown, Triangle Sunday School Class member for 54 years and class teacher, served on the Deacon Board as Chairman over the years and a member of the First Baptist Church Friendship Sunday School Class. He was a 50-year member and Past Master of Fayette Lodge No. 228 F.&A.M., Scottish Rite Valley of Uniontown, and Valley of Pittsburgh, St. Omer’s Commandery No. 7 Knight’s Templar of Uniontown, Union Royal Arch Chapter No. 165, R.A.M, and VFW Post 47 of Uniontown, Pa.
Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Jessie R. Henshaw Ford; four children, Miles Ford and wife, Lois of Pittsburgh, Pa., Virginia Hughes and husband, David of Exton, Pa., the Rev. Homer Ford and the Rev. Soozi Ford of Indianola, Iowa, and Linda Ford and husband, Edward Festor of Uniontown, Pa.; seven grandchildren, Graham and Clinton, Michael and Genevieve and Ashley, Holly and Adam; and one sister, Jean Hagerman and husband, Mark of Myrtle Beach, S.C.
The family will receive friends in the DEAN C. WHITMARSH FUNERAL HOME, 134 West Church St., Fairchance, Pa., today from 7 to 9 p.m., and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Additional visitation and services will be held at the First Baptist Church of Fairchance on Monday, Aug. 29, 2005, from 10 to 11 a.m., the hour of service, with the Rev. Dr. Neil Hoppe and the Rev. Dr. Dave Skinner officiating. Interment will follow in Sylvan Heights Cemetery, Uniontown, Pa. Masonic Services will be held on Sunday at 7:30 p.m., by Fayette Lodge 228.
