Erica Platt, formerly of Uniontown, is engaged to wed Harold Tawney, formerly of Smithfield. The bride-elect is the daughter of Jeffrey Platt of Florida and Barbara and Lloyd Ansel of Uniontown. She is a 2000 graduate of Albert Gallatin High School and a 2003 graduate of Penn State University with an associate of science degree in nursing. She is currently attending Eastern Michigan University and is employed as a registered nurse in the emergency department at William Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak, Mich.

Her fiance is the son of Harold and Cheryl Tawney of Smithfield. He is a 1992 graduate of Tri-Valley High School and a 1997 graduate of Penn State University with a bachelors of science degree in administration of justice. He is employed with the Department of Homeland Security/Customs and Border Protection in Detroit, Mich.

A fall 2006 wedding is planned.
