Michael Charles Berdar
Michael Charles Berdar, age 58, of Uniontown, Pa., died Sunday, August 28, 2005, in Mount Macrina Manor with several members of his loving family by his side. He was born February 17, 1947, in Uniontown, Pa.
Preceding him in death were his father Charles Berdar in 2002 and a sister Patricia Ann Berdar Dobek in 1999.
Mr. Berdar was a graduate of German Township High School, served honorably in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War when he was awarded the Purple Heart, had been employed at the RAG Cumberland Mine and was a member of Saint Mary Nativity Catholic Church Uniontown, Pa., UMWA Local 2300, American Legion Post 51 and VFW Post 47, Uniontown, Pa.
Surviving are his mother, Mary Tittnich Berdar of Hibbs; his wife, Lois Ann Fudala Magerko Berdar; two daughters: United States Army Staff Sergent Amanda Berdar of Pendleton, S.C., and Michele Magerko of Uniontown, Pa., a grandson, Tyler Michael Berdar; two brothers: Robert D. Berdar and his wife, Beverly of Masontown, Pa. and Captain Charles J. Berdar, Jr. USN and his wife, Barbara of Greensburg, Pa., a brother-in-law Fred Dobek of Uniontown and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received in the JEROME W. SHELL FUNERAL HOME, 164 South Mount Vernon Avenue, Uniontown, Pa., this evening from 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., on Thursday until 8:30 a.m. A funeral service will follow in Holy Trinity Orthodox Church New Salem, Pa. with the Most Reverend Father Vitaly Dudkin officiating.
Interment will follow in the church cemetery with military honors accorded at the graveside by American legion Post 51 Uniontown, Pa. and NU VFW Post 8543.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Michael’s name to the American Cancer Society, 320 Bilmar Drive, Pittsburgh, Pa., 15205-4620.
