Michael (Mike) Basarab

Michael (Mike) Basarab, age 85, of Perryopolis, Pa., passed away Monday, August 29, 2005. He was born November 16, 1919, in Dunbar, Pa., the son of the late George and Mary Katchur Basarab.

Mike was a member of Saint Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church, a member of the V.F.W. Goldstar Post 7023 and the Star Junction Fish and Game club.

He was a Veteran of World War II and the Korean War serving with the United States Navy.

He is survived by his wife, Millie Brant Basarab and one sister: Mrs. Anne Dzurko of Glassport, Pa.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Basarab and two sisters: Mary Basarab Bednar and Helen B. Huzinec.

Friends will be received in the BLAIR-LOWTHER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 106 East Independence Street, Perryopolis, Pa., on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. where Panachida Services will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. followed by funeral Liturgy at 11 a.m. in Saint Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church, Perryopolis, Pa., with the Rev. Father Robert Halus as Celebrant.

Interment will be in Saint Nicholas Cemetery, Perryopolis, and Pa.

A Parastas Service will be held Wednesday afternoon at 3 p.m. in the funeral home.

Graveside Military Rites accorded by V.F.W. Goldstar Post 7023 and American Legion 725, Perryopolis, Pa.
