Libbie Glasser
Libbie Glasser, age 95, of Weinberg Village, Pittsburgh, Pa., and formerly of Uniontown, Pa., died Monday, August 29, 2005, in the Charles Morris Care Facility. She was born November 3, 1909 in Pittsburgh, Pa., daughter of the late Jacob and Jennie Davis Opachevsky.
She was a member of Tree of Life Synagogue, Sisterhood, Hadassah, and the Uniontown Jewish Community Center. Libbie was an active and vital member of the Tree of Life Sisterhood. For many years she was in charge of the kosher kitchens at the Synagogue and the Uniontown Jewish Community Center. She was responsible for catering countless dinners, luncheons and receptions for the community. She was recognized for her creative and delicious menus. When she left Uniontown, the Sisterhood honored her for her many years of service with a luncheon, plaque and testimonials.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Maurice Glasser, her son, Jay Glasser, and great grandson Brennan, one brother, William Orr, three sisters, Rose Sales, Bessie Smith and Ann Edeson.
She is survived by three sons: Melvin Glasser and wife, Sandi of Richmond, Va., Irwin Glasser and wife, Gloria of Pembroke Pines, Fla., and Robert Glasser and wife, Ruth Ann of Pittsburgh, Pa.; a daughter-in-law, Jane; seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Friends will be received in the J. HARRY JOHNSTON FUNERAL HOME, 65 North Gallatin Avenue, Uniontown, Pa., on Wednesday, August 31, 2005 from 10 to 11 a.m. the hour of service with Dr. Perry Haalman officiating.
Interment will be in Holy Society Cemetery, Hopwood, Pa.
