German Twp. approves spending plan
GERMAN TWP. – The German Township supervisors approved their final budget Wednesday for 2006 with no tax increase for municipal residents. The supervisors approved the $728,000 account that includes $377,500 for public works and road construction in the coming year while maintaining the current millage rate of 1.146 mills.
At that rate, township property owners will pay $11.46 in taxes for every $10,000 in assessed property value.
Supervisor Dan Shimshock said the township receives about $138,000 in revenue from real estate taxes annually.
Shimshock said included in the 2006 spending plan is money earmarked for road improvements in the village of Ballsinger where roadways are in disrepair after a new sewer system was installed.
The supervisors also conducted the following business:
– Update area residents regarding the massive $13 million sewerage project slated for more than 1,000 township homes and businesses. Shimshock said all the paperwork is completed and the township is simply waiting for the Rural Utility Service to respond to funding requests.
– Announced that Fayette County Magisterial District Judge Randy Abraham will move into the township in 2006 and operate at the old Triangle 21 building along Route 21.
– Reminded area residents that the township compost center is now completed and open.
– Scheduled garbage pickup in 2006 for Wednesday.
– Announced that an appeal regarding a proposal to bring a halfway house into the township will be held Dec. 20 at 2:30 p.m. at the Fayette County Courthouse.
– Scheduled their annual reorganization meeting for Tuesday, Jan. 3 at 6 p.m. and an auditor’s meeting for Wednesday, Jan. 4, at 6 p.m., both to be held at the municipal building.
