Franklin D. May
Franklin D. May, 70, of Uniontown, Pa., died Monday, January 31, 2005, at his resident.
He was born April 8, 1934, in Zanesville, Ohio.
Mr. May was retired from the United States Navy having served honorably for over 24 years.
He was a Senior Commander of North Union V.F.W. Post 8543, a member of General George C. Marshall AMVETS Post No. 103 in Hopwood, Pa., American Legion Post 51 in Uniontown, North Union Volunteer Fire Department, and the Hutchinson Sportsmen’s Club. He was also a member of the Catholic War Veterans Post 1669.
In addition to his parents, Fred and Ida B. Murphy, he was preceded in death by a son, Charles May, five brothers and one sister.
Surviving are his wife, Beverly J. Gillen May; three daughters: Robin Klugman of Uniontown, Pa., Donna Hirst of Milton, Florida, and Linda Carpenter and her husband, Butch, of Troy, New York; three grandchildren: April Ciarlone and her husband Michael, Ricky Snurkowski and his wife Carrie and Brandi Hill; two great-grandchildren; and a brother, Fred May and his wife, Wilma, of Silver City, New Mexico.
Friends will be received in the JEROME W. SHELL FUNERAL HOME, 164 South Mount Vernon Avenue, Uniontown, Pa., today (Thursday, February 3) until 11 a.m., the hour of Service with the Rev. Roland M. O’Brien officiating.
Interment will follow in LaFayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill, Pa. where Military Honors will be accorded at graveside by North Union V.F.W. Post 8543.
Visitation was also held Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
The Catholic War Veterans Post 1669 held a Service in the Funeral Home on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
