George C. Mateleska

George C. Mateleska, age 52, of Crucible, Pa., died suddenly on Monday, January 31, 2005, in High Quality/Maple Creek Mine, Washington County, Pa. He was born June 23, 1952, in Waynesburg, Pa., son of John Mateleska Sr. and Helen Maffett Mateleska.

Mr. Mateleska was employed by High Quality/Maple Creek Mine and was a member of United Mine Workers of America Local 6159, Bobtown, Pa.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Helen Maffett Mateleska, a brother, David Allen Mateleska, and a step grandson, Azaiah Uvegas.

He is survived by his father, John Mateleska Sr. of Bobtown, Pa.; his wife, Sheila Merriman Mateleska; four children: Lisa and her husband, Jake Staggers, of Oak Forest, Pa., Travis Mateleska, Betty Lou Uvegas and Jennifer Barton all of Crucible, Pa.; three grandchildren: Tyler Tillery, Victoria Tillery and Azarriah Uvegas; a brother, John W. Mateleska II and his wife, Pamela, of Bobtown, Pa.; and two sisters: Kathy Olenik and her husband, Joseph, of Dunkirk, Maryland, and Patricia Ludrosky and her husband, Dave, of Carmichaels, Pa.

Friends will be received in the PAUL MICHAEL LESAKO FUNERAL HOME INC., Paul M. Lesako, Funeral Director/Supervisor, 204 Dowlin Avenue, Carmichaels, Pa., on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturday, February 5, from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Funeral Services will begin at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Donald Gillenwater officiating.

Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park, Point Marion, Pa.
