2 min read

Leonardo Defilippis, currently on a national tour, will bring his one-man live production “The Passion According to Luke’ to St. Therese Roman Catholic Church, 61 Mill St., Uniontown, on Thursday, Feb. 17, at 7 p.m. Officials said, “In ‘The Passion According to Luke,’ the inspiring Easter story is brought to life in a beautiful, deeply moving and dramatic portrayal of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Taken directly from Scripture, Leonardo Defilippis’ one-man drama creates a much deeper understanding of God’s unconditional love. The Passion opens with Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem, carries us through the Last Supper, the Agony in the Garden, his death on the cross and at last to the glorious Resurrection. Defilippis uses few props, allowing the text and the majestic musical score to speak straight to the heart of the viewer.’

Defilippis has worked as an actor, producer and director of religious live theatrical productions, videos and films for 23 years. In 1980, after six years performing in the Colorado Shakespeare Festival, San Diego’s Old Globe Theater, and the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Defilippis launched his own production company, Saint Luke Productions, and since then has been producing high quality religious live, video and film dramas for audiences throughout the English-speaking world.

His productions on “Maximilian: Saint of Auschwitz,’ “Saint Francis: Troubadour of God’s Peace,’ “John of the Cross,’ “The Gospels of Luke and John,’ “The Confessions of Saint Augustine’ and “Therese: The Story of a Soul’ have won numerous national and international awards. “Therese,’ his film directing debut, was ranked fourth of all films in per location average on its opening weekend. Defilippis also plays Therese’s father, Louis Martin, in the film.

“The Passion According to Luke’ is an award-winning, professional production, enhanced with an original musical score, beautiful yet simple set and lighting, authentic costumes and poignant acting. It is suitable for all ages and runs about an hour.
