Lester Franklin Patterson
Lester Franklin Patterson, age 79, of Connellsville, Pa., died Saturday, February 5, 2005, in Excela Frick Hospital, Mount Pleasant, Pa. He was born March 6, 1925, in Vanderbilt, Pa., a son of Lester Samuel Patterson and Gladys Whetsel Patterson.
Mr. Patterson graduated from California (Pa.) High School.
He was a veteran of the United States Army Air Corps who served during World War II based in England where he flew many missions over Europe.
In 1963 he graduated from West Virginia University School of Pharmacy.
He was the former owner and operator, along with his wife, of Hetzel’s Pharmacy in Connellsville for many years.
He was a member of various pharmaceutical associations including the Fayette County Pharmaceutical Association.
He was a member of Laurel Lodge No. 651 F. & A. M., Life Member of the Uniontown (Pa.) Lodge of Perfection and various other Masonic lodges including the Syria Shrine.
He was a former member of the Connellsville Housing Authority and the Connellsville School Board. He was a member of the school authority which oversaw the construction of the current Connellsville High School.
He was also a member of the Connellsville Chamber of Commerce, the Chamber of Commerce in Uniontown, Pa., Pleasant Valley Country Club, and Wesley United Methodist Church in Connellsville.
A granddaughter, Kelsey Foley, and his parents preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife, Betty “Jane” Moore Patterson; two daughters: Marci and her husband, David Wenn, of Lake Placid, New York, and Jody and her husband, Richard Foley, of Dayton, Nevada; and five grandchildren: Kyle Dareff, Lindsay Dareff, Jake Wenn, Megan Foley and Madison Foley.
Friends will be received in the BROOKS FUNERAL HOME INC., 111 EAST GREEN STREET, CONNELLSVILLE, Pa., on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. where Services will be held Wednesday, February 9, at 1 p.m. with the Rev. David Bell officiating.
Interment will follow in Dickerson Run Union Cemetery where Military Honors will be conducted.
A Masonic Service will be held (time will be announced).
