Cash bash A cash bash will be held on Saturday at the Masontown Italian Club. The doors will open at 6 p.m. The $30 donation also includes free refreshments. Guests may be included for only $10.
Tickets will be sold at the door or by calling 724-583-0117 or 724-583-0140. All proceeds will benefit the Albert Gallatin Class of 2005 Post Prom. Winners need not be present.
Little Knights
The Masontown Little Knights Baseball/Softball League will hold sign-ups on March 2 and March 4 at the Masontown Elementary School cafeteria from 6 to 8 each evening.
Sign-ups for children, ages 5-12 are free, but they must sign up. If this is a child’s first year in the league, a copy of their birth certificate must be provided.
Sign-ups for Pony Baseball (ages 13-14) and Colt Baseball (15-17) will also be held. The fee for their sign-ups is $40, due at that time.

Let’s Be Frank
All Saints Church will host “Let’s Be Frank,” a tribute to Frank Sinatra, on Saturday at the Church Social Hall in Masontown. In a Las Vegas dinner show atmosphere, Beau Wagner, former lead singer of The Four Coins and The Vogues, accompanied by the Joe Argiro Orchestra, will perform the music of Frank Sinatra. The evening begins with a buffet dinner served at 6 p.m. Reservations and tickets are available by calling All Saints Church 724-583-7866.
Ash Wednesday service
Ash Wednesday service will be held at Jacob’s Lutheran Church Wednesday 7 p.m. with a soup and sandwich dinner at 6 p.m. A midweek Lenten service will be at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Carmichaels with service at 7 p.m. and soup and sandwich at 6p.m. A Lenten series designed by Pastor Todd Kornahrens titled “At the Foot of the Cross” will be used during the midweek worship services. Public is invited.
Chestnut Ridge
Chestnut Ridge Christian Academy, located at 115 Downer Ave., Uniontown, is accepting applications for enrollment in the 4-year-old kindergarten, 5-year-old kindergarten and grades one through 10. New tuition incentives are being offered. Call 724-439-1090 for more information.
All Saints School news
All Saints School received a check for $212 from Box Tops for Education. The school received 10 cents per box top and will be sending in another batch the middle of March. Anyone with box tops is asked to drop them off at the school office. Thanks are given to the parishioners who continuously support every fund-raiser held.
Thank you is extended to all the cafeteria workers who volunteer to help at lunchtime. Anyone wishing to volunteer to help in the cafeteria, notify the school office what day is preferred and they will be put on the schedule.
A new member has recently been added to the staff. Chris White is the new computer teacher. Mrs. White is a parent at Holy Rosary School where she is also the computer teacher. She has a degree in robotic computer programming.
All Saints School participates in the Scrip program. This is a way for parents and the school to earn money. Scrip is another word for a gift certificate from a particular store. There are more than 20 retailers to choose from. The latest additions are Panera Bread and Home Depot. You pay exactly what the gift certificate denomination is. No one loses. If you would like to buy these gift certificates, please call or come to the school office.
The students raised $112.50 through our Denim Day to raise funds for the tsunami victims.
All Saints is still taking yearbook orders and patron ads. The yearbooks are $22 and the patron ads are $5 each. Anyone wishing to purchase either options, is asked to contact the office at 724- 583-2141.
Congratulations
Livia Kay Mehalovich, daughter of Michael and Shelley Corcoran Mehalovich, Wharton Furnace Road, was born on Jan. 15 in Magee Women’s Hospital, Pittsburgh. Livia is the fifth grandchild of Steve and Ina Corcoran, Monongahela Avenue, Masontown, and the first grandchild of Brian and Cheryl Mehalovich of Jumonville Road, formerly of Masontown. Livia is named after her late great-grandmother, Katherine Corcoran.
Ash Wednesday meal
The All Saints Christian Mothers will serve a Lenten meal on Ash Wednesday at the All Saints Social Hall from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The dinner will include fish, macaroni and cheese, coleslaw, beverage and dessert for $6.50. The public is invited to attend
Perogie orders
The All Saints Christian Mothers will be making perogies on Fridays during Lent from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the church social hall. Orders for perogies are being taken at 724-583-9375.
Fairchance Youth League
The Fairchance Youth League will register players for the 2005 season on Feb. 19 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Fairchance Volunteer Fire Hall. It is open to children between the ages of 5 and 18. Contact George Null at 724-564-7481 or Rich Walters at 724-564-0326 for more information.
Band Booster meeting
The Colonial Band Booster meeting will be held on Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the high school library. Immediately following at 8 p.m., all jazz fest parents and jazz fest ushers, who will be helping the night of Feb. 25, are required to attend a walk-through for that special evening.
Jazz Fest
On Feb. 25 at 7 p.m., the Colonial Band is hosting their “Jazz Fest 2005” concert. Special performances will be held by Laurel Highlands, Carmichaels, Brownsville, University High of Morgantown, W.Va., and Albert Gallatin Jazz bands. Special guest will be the world-renown jazz guitarist Joe Negri from Pittsburgh.
