Dorothy Sante Trusio
Our beloved mother, Dorothy Sante Trusio, passed away quietly on Sunday, February 6, 2005, in the wonderful Madison Center in Morgantown, West Virginia. Prior to her year at The Madison Center, Dorothy enjoyed living in Morgantown with her family who loved her so: daughter Darlene, her husband, Jim, their son, Riley, and Jim’s brother, Jeff Dunn.
Before moving to Darlene’s in January of 2002, Mrs. Trusio lived at 34 Derrick Avenue in Uniontown, Pa., with her now late husband, Pat C. Trusio.
Dorothy was born May 21, 1913, to Mr. and Mrs. Luis Sante (Santangelo) who made their home at 283 Pittsburgh Road in Uniontown, Pa.
She will leave two loving sisters: Mrs. Rose DeMarco from Connellsville, Pa., and Mrs. Theresa Capranica from Uniontown.
She was preceded in death by sisters and brothers: Mrs. Lena Carolla, Mr. Tony Sante, Mrs. Josephine “Jay” Tresky, Miss Angelina Sante and Mr. Joe Sante all from Uniontown and Mrs. Minnie Trafecanty from Connellsville.
Dorothy was a member of Saint Therese de Lisieux Roman Catholic Church in Uniontown and an active member of the Saint Therese Altar Society. She worked hard every year at the church’s famous Spaghetti Dinners.
Her outgoing personality and love of life won her the title of “Miss Personality” sponsored by Saint Therese’s in 1939.
In addition to participation in the church, Dorothy was an active member of The Daughters of the Sons of Italy and The Maria Montessori Lodge. She was a 55-year member of CD of A Court 505, Uniontown.
She was an avid duckpin bowler and enjoyed playing in the Arbor League twice a week at the Laurel Lanes on Gallatin Avenue.
Since her husband Patsy was involved in politics and a State Legislator for many years, Dorothy was an active volunteer and member of The Democratic Committee.
One of the most exciting times in her life was attending the inauguration of her favorite president, John F. Kennedy, in Washington, D.C., on January 20, 1981.
She loved to travel and often visited her husband’s family in Florida. Going out West with her sisters was always an adventure to visit their brother, Joe, in Nevada where he entertained with the Joe Sante Trio.
She often visited her daughter, Georgia, in Atlanta, Georgia, and enjoyed being asked why she named her daughter a Southern name!
One of her last exciting trips was to Atlantic City, New Jersey, with her sister, Rose DeMarco’s family, in September of 2001.
In addition to her daughters, Darlene Trusio Dunn and Georgia Trusio, Dorothy has one son, Patrick Trusio, who lives in San Diego, California.
She also leaves her loving grandsons who visited their grandmother often and will miss her being the family matriarch: Marc Trusio, Atlanta, Georgia, Michael Trusio, Los Angeles, California, and Riley Dunn, Morgantown, West Virginia. Jeff Dunn of Morgantown, West Virginia, was also considered as a loving grandson and visited with her every day. Other caring family members who spent special time with her are daughter-in-law, Janet Trusio Bailey, Winter Haven, Florida, and nieces, Mrs. Fran Swink of Connellsville, Pa., and Mrs. Georgette Dursa of Uniontown, Pa.
