Joseph D. Smarto Sr., 79, of Connellsville, Pa., died Sunday, Feb. 6, 2005, at his home. He is survived by his wife, Florence J. Croftcheck; three sons, Joseph D. Smarto Jr. of Allison Park, Michael G. Smarto of Wexford and James J. Smarto of Connellsville; two daughters, Sharon B. Smarto of Allison Park and Mrs. Brian (Jane) Moffitt of Pittsburgh; seven grandchildren; and a sister, Marie Dunaway of Connellsville.

Friends will be received at the Vito C. Martucci Funeral Home, 123 S. First St., West Side, Connellsville on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and until 9:45 a.m. Thursday.
