Chamber of commerce to produce newsletter
BROWNSVILLE – The Greater Brownsville Area Chamber of Commerce will begin producing a monthly newsletter for its members. The new publication was announced at Tuesday’s monthly chamber meeting. The newsletter will feature businesses that belong to the chamber each month, as well as other chamber news, according to the chamber’s executive director, Scott Bowman. It will be sent out prior to each monthly meeting.
Meanwhile, Mike Evans, chief executive officer for Brownsville General Hospital, reported that the sale of the hospital to a private medical group should be completed within a month. The matter is still before Fayette County Orphans Court.
Also, the chamber discussed this year’s river cruise. Chamber President Frank Ricco said negotiations with the Gateway Clipper Fleet are still going poorly, with Gateway Clipper officials declining to reduce new fees that boost the cost of the cruise significantly. The fleet has added a fuel fee for bringing the boat from Pittsburgh to Brownsville, as well as crew fees for that portion of the trip, bartender fees and a fee for a band.
The chamber is still trying to find a way to keep the cost of the annual cruise reasonable.
