Evelyn K. Margolis died on February 8, 2005, at Rebecca Residence in Allison Park, after a lengthy illness. She was 84. She was loving of and devoted to her family and many friends, young and old.

Always ready to talk politics, individuals on both sides of the aisle could garner her favor (or invoke her ire). She was an enthusiastic supporter of Democrat John F. Kennedy, while later serving as Fayette County Co-Chair of Republican Nelson Rockefeller’s campaign for President.

From an early age, she had an insatiable love of travel. Her wonderful sense of humor included an unbridled ability to laugh at herself. She engaged in a lifelong pursuit of learning, which together with her varied interests, caused her to be informed on many subjects.

Mrs. Margolis was born in Pittsburgh, Pa., daughter of the late Adolph and Ethel Klein. She graduated from Taylor-Allderdice High School in Pittsburgh, in 1939, and attended the University of Wisconsin and the Pennsylvania College for Women (later Chatham College).

In 1944, she married and then moved to Uniontown, where she lived until her last years.

Mrs. Margolis was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Milton Margolis, who died last August.

She is survived by her sons, Richard, David and Lee; four granddaughter, Amy Margolis, Stacey Qureshi, Hillary Margolis and Caroline Margolis; two grandsons, Matthew Margolis and Reed Margolis; one great-granddaughter, Maya Qureshi; a brother, Robert Klein; and nieces, grand-nephews, a grand-niece and cousins.

Visitation will be held at the J. HARRY JOHNSTON FUNERAL HOME, 65 North Gallatin Ave., Uniontown, Pa., on Thursday, Feb. 10, 2005, at 10 a.m., with service to follow at 11 a.m. Rabbi Sion David will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center, 4-West, UPMC Montefiore, 200 Lothrop St., Pittsburgh, PA 15213.
