Jurors acquit city man of rape, related charges
Fayette County jurors acquitted a 38-year-old Uniontown man of raping a teen over a four-month period last year. Jurors deliberated throughout the day Thursday before determining that James Scott Kelley was not guilty of rape, statutory sexual assault, three counts of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse and four counts each of aggravated indecent assault and indecent assault.
Police alleged that Kelly had repeated sexual encounters with a 15-year-old girl at a North Gallatin Avenue home between Feb. 4 and June 4, 2004. He allegedly threatened to harm the girl if she told anyone.
His trial was held before Judge John F. Wagner Jr.
