AARP offers driving class
AARP is offering local senior citizens an opportunity to refresh their driving skills with classes scheduled in Fayette, Greene, Washington and Westmoreland counties. Developed by the AARP and sponsored by local organizations, volunteer instructors have scheduled classes at the following locations throughout the tri-county areas. Call a class center near you for additional information and to register for 2005 classes.
This program as offered by AARP is an eight-hour classroom refresher course designed for motorists 50 and older. AARP55 Safety Course addresses the physical changes that can affect older drivers and presents ways to compensate for those changes. Completion of the program qualifies the participants for a multi-year automobile insurance discount. Classes must be taken every three years to ensure continued automobile premium discounts. Each participant must attend two-day class instruction of four hours each.
The cost to each participant is $10 payable to AARP at the time of registration to cover the cost of books and materials. Prior registration is required. Class size is limited. AARP has recently introduced a new toll-free number (1-888-227-7669) for more information about other locations.
