Seat checks scheduled State police, Washington Highway Safety, the state Department of Transportation and AAA are conducting two child safety seat checks.
The first is today from 3 to 6 p.m. at Uniontown Toyota, and the second is Wednesday from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Uniontown fire hall.
Woman to speak
St. George Maronite Catholic Church, 6 Lebanon Terrace, Uniontown, announces Anita Jones of Fairchance will be speaker at today’s 7:15 p.m. Lenten service.
A member of Ss. Cyril and Methodius Roman Catholic Church in Fairchance, Jones will speak on “Her Journey Home Into the Catholic Church.’
Priest sons welcomed
St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Uniontown is welcoming its priest sons to celebrate Mass in the parish every Lenten Wednesday at 6 p.m. The Masses begin on Wednesday with the Rev. William Lechnar as celebrant.
St. Joseph, located on Walnut Hill Road, is unique in that it has six members of the parish who are priests serving in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Greensburg.
As St. Joseph celebrates its 100th anniversary in 2005, the church is planning many spiritual and social activities, including these Lenten Masses.
The six priests who are from St. Joseph Parish include the Rev. Joseph Sredzinski, pastor of St. Hubert in Point Marion; the Rev. Thaddeus Kaczmarek, pastor of St. Agnes in North Huntingon, the Rev. Leonard Stoviak, pastor of St. John the Baptist in Scottdale, the Rev. Terry Hercik, pastor of Immaculate Conception in Connellsville, the Rev. William Lechnar, parochial vicar at the Blessed Sacrament Cathedral in Greensburg, and the Rev. Doug Dorula, parochial vicar at St. Bernard in Indiana.
The Rev. Alexander Pleban is pastor.
Tax help offered
Federal and Pennsylvania tax returns will be prepared free for senior citizens and people/families with low income every Tuesday at the St. Peter and St. Mary Partner Parish Church office at 118 Church St., Brownsville, by appointment only.
This free service will be provided by an IRS trained volunteer from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. through Tuesday, April 12.
To schedule an appointment, call Fayette County Community Action Agency at 724-437-6050, extension 227, and ask for Rose.
Participants will need a copy of last year’s return, a photo identification (i.e. driver license), and all current tax forms.

This free service will be provided by IRS trained volunteers from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and will continue through Thursday, April 14.
