Frances Orlandi

Frances Amici Orlandi, 79, of Brownsville, Pa., passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2005, at her home, with her daughter, Sheila by her side. She was born Nov. 9, 1925, in Grindstone, Pa., daughter of the late Vincenzo and Giovanna Graziosi Amici.

Mrs. Orlandi was a member of The Historic Church of St. Peter in Brownsville. She was a member of the Brownsville Hospital Nurses Alumni, the Sons of Italy Rosa Garabaldi Lodge No. 1818 and Catholic Daughters of America Court No. 1141.

She was a graduate of Redstone High School, Class of 1944, and of Brownsville General Hospital School of Nursing, Class of 1947. She was employed as a Nurse Supervisor at Brownsville General Hospital for 20 years. Mrs. Orlandi was also employed by the late Dr. Carl Garofalo in Republic, Pa., for 27 years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, James J., on Nov. 9, 1986; and two sisters, Victoria Capranica and Louise Pillar.

Mrs. Orlandi was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

She is survived by her son, Gaetano (Guy) Orlandi and his wife, Kathy of Louisville, Ky.; a daughter, Sheila Orlandi, with whom she made her home; a granddaughter, Sabrina Orlandi and a grandson, Brendon Orlandi, both of Louisville, Ky.; her Faithful and devoted companion and pet, Gia; sisters-in-law, Louise Mendish of Brownsville, Pa., and Lena Abd of Washington, Pa.; brothers-in-law, Anthony Capranica Sr., of Warren, Ohio, Dr. Angelo Orlandi and his wife, Lorraine of California, Pa., and Augustine Orlandi and his wife, Marge of McDonald, Pa.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to extend their deepest appreciation to The staff and caregivers at Albert Gallatin Hospice and Fayette HomeCare, and especially to her primary caregiver, Lisa Check.

Friends will be received in THE SKIRPAN FUNERAL HOME, 135 Park St., Brownsville, this evening from 6 to 9 p.m., and on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced. Catholic Daughters of America Court No. 1141 will recite the Rosary on Thursday at 3:15 p.m.
