Sophia B. Wolpink
Sophia B. Wolpink, 87, of Coal Center, Pa., died Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2005. She was born June 28, 1917, in Newell, Pa., a daughter of the late Anthony and Naomi (Furlong) Russell.
She was a member of the Long Branch Grange.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, the late George P. Wolpink, in 1988; and two sisters, Margaret Watkins and Etta Timlin.
Left to cherish her memory are her three children: a son and daughter-in-law, George J. and Ruth Wolpink of Newell, Pa., and daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Harry Ruffcorn of Brownsville, Pa., and Donna and James Salzman of Elco, Pa.; a brother, Thomas Russell and a sister, Helen Sedlak, both of Coal Center, Pa., and sister, Mildred Macosta of Charleroi, Pa. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, Lisa Zemba, Patricia Latal, Deborah Wolpink, Harry Ruffcorn Jr., Kimberly Ruffcorn, Karen Briggs, Jimmy Salzman and Jeremy Salzman; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received in the MARISCOTTI FUNERAL HOME INC., Anthony N. Mariscotti, Supervisor, 323 Fourth St., California, Pa., today from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and until 9:30 a.m., on Saturday, when a blessing service will be held in the funeral home, followed by a 10 a.m., Mass of Christian Burial in St. Thomas Aquinas Roman Catholic Church, with the Rev. Fr. Mark Skertich as Celebrant. Interment will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
