Henry “Hank” Kirchner

Henry “Hank” Kirchner, age 85, of Carmichaels, Pa., died unexpectedly at 10:25 p.m. on Wednesday, February 16, 2005, in Monongalia General Hospital, Morgantown, West Virginia. He was born October 25, 1919, in Poland Mines, Greene County, Pa., a son of Ferdinand Kirchner and Monica Wieser Kirchner.

Mr. Kirchner resided in Carmichaels all of his married life where he attended the First United Methodist Church.

He served with the United States Army in the African Theatre during World War II and retired from Duquesne Light’s Warwick Mine in October of 1981.

Mr. Kirchner was a member of Duquesne Light Local 6310 of the United Mine Workers of America, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3491 in Carmichaels and the Stringtown Sportsman’s Club.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman.

On July 9, 1949, he married Erma Y. “Bonnie” Bowlen, who survives.

Also surviving are two daughters: Cindy K. Rudolph and her husband, Dave, of Carmichaels, Pa., and Cathy L. Nicklos and her husband, Bob, of Millsboro, Pa.; 10 grandchildren: Yvonne, Mary, Tim, Teri, Todd, Davey, Sherrie, Chad, Scott and Haley; nine great grandchildren: Jeremy, Jackson, Patrick, Rachael, Stephanie, Isaiah, Mia, Maddy and Gabby; three brothers: Frank Kirchner of Masontown, Pa., George A. Kirchner and John V. Kirchner both of Perryopolis, Pa.; four sisters: Mary Harbiger of Hopwood, Pa., Kate Dunham, Sophia Patch and Dorothy Cain all of Masontown, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased are two brothers, William Kirchner and Fred J. Kirchner, three sisters, Margaret J. Brown, Victoria Weaver and Lucy Kois, and his parents.

Friends will be received in the YOSKOVICH FUNERAL HOME, Martin J. Yoskovich, Funeral Director, 300 South Vine Street (Route 88), Carmichaels, Pa., today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. where Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, February 19, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Roger C. Saunders officiating.

Interment will follow in LaFayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill, Pa., with Full Military Honors accorded by Cumberland American Legion Post 400 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3491.
