John Dallas Blaney
John “Jack” Dallas Blaney, age 89, of Ligonier, Pa., died Thursday evening, February 17, 2005, in Excela Latrobe Area Hospital, Latrobe, Pa. He was born November 22, 1915, in Uniontown, Pa., a son of Dorsey Dale Blaney and Catherine Falter Blaney.
Prior to his retirement in 1974 John had been employed as a Telegrapher for Conrail for over 40 years.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved following professional sports-especially the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Pittsburgh Steelers!
John spent many years as a Coach of Little League Baseball.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Pearl E. Thompson Blaney in 2002, a sister, Martha Blaney, two brothers, Joseph Blaney and Paul Blaney, and his parents.
He is survived by a daughter, Evelyn Blaney Ciocco of Sydney, Australia; two sons: John D. Blaney Jr. and his wife, Joanna, of Owensboro, Kentucky, and Richard T. Blaney and his wife, Barbara, of Columbia, South Carolina; six grandchildren: Michael Ciocco, Chris Ciocco, Ashlie Iracane, Brooke Blaney, Ryan Blaney and Catherine Blaney; and four great grandchildren: Jack Iracane, Paul Iracane, A. J. Iracane and Mac Ciocco.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date and will be announced.
