Mary Bennie

Mary Bennie, age 98, of Uniontown, Pa., and formerly of Lemont Furnace, Pa., died Tuesday, February 15, 2005, in Brownsville General Hospital, Brownsville, Pa.

She was born on February 13, 1907, in Youngstown, Fayette County, Pa., a daughter of John Bennie and Mary (Kuch) Bennie.

Mary was a member of Saint John The Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church in Uniontown and a member of Saint Cecelia’s Confraternity of Christian Mothers.

Miss Bennie was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, George Bennie, Nicholas Bennie, Michael Bennie and his wife Kathryn, Peter Bennie and his wife Kathryn and John Bennie and his wife, Mary.

Surviving are her brother, Charles Bennie of Pittsburgh, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received in the STEPHEN R. HAKY FUNERAL HOME INC. AT SYLVAN HEIGHTS CEMETERY, A Dignity Memorial Provider, 603 North Gallatin Avenue Extension, Uniontown, Pa., today (Friday, February 18) until 10:30 a.m. when a Panachida Service will be held.

Divine Liturgy follows at 11 a.m. in Saint John The Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church, East Main Street, Uniontown, with the Rev. Father Kevin E. Marks as Celebrant.

Interment will follow in Saint John Byzantine Cemetery, Hopwood, Pa.

Visitation was also held Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Parastas was held on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
