Lauretta C. (DeLuca) Karas
Lauretta C. (DeLuca) Karas, age 92, of Smithfield, Pa., died Friday, February 18, 2005, in her home with her loving Family by her side. She was born on August 22, 1912, in Masontown, Pa., a daughter of the now late August and Quintella DeLucantonio.
Lauretta was a homemaker and a devoted Mother and Grandmother who enjoyed cooking and baking and having her Family around her!
She was a lifelong member of Saint Helen’s Roman Catholic Church in Shoaf, Pa., and a member of The Confraternity of Christian Mothers of Ss. Cyril and Methodius Roman Catholic Church in Fairchance, Pa. She was also a member of The Catholic Daughters of America Court 505 in Uniontown, Pa.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Michael J. Karas in 1982, a son-in-law, Matthew A. Hunchuck Jr. in 1982, three sisters, Josephine Kawatsky, Cora Butchy and Biancia Ferian, and two brothers, Adolph DeLuca and Bernard DeLuca.
Lauretta was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Norma Jean Hunchuck, with whom she made her home; her loving grandsons who visited her often and will miss her tremendously: Gregory Hunchuck and his wife, Mary Lou, and Matthew Hunchuck and his wife, Betty; her great grandchildren who were the pride and joy of her life: Anthony, Lauren, Kristan, Morgan and Zachary; the family members who spent special time and care with her: nephew Ronald Kawatsky and nieces Carol Kawatsky, Patty Kawatsky and Betty Hunchuck; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends will be received in the STEPHEN R. HAKY FUNERAL HOME INC. AT SYLVAN HEIGHTS CEMETERY, A Dignity Memorial Provider, 603 North Gallatin Avenue Extension, Uniontown, Pa., on Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by the Funeral Home.
