Elsie Grayce Johnson Stevenson
Elsie Grayce Johnson Stevenson, age 70, of Newell, Pa., died Saturday, February 19, 2005, in the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, Pittsburgh, Pa.
She was born February 8, 1935, in Maxwell, Pa., a daughter of Harry Cassel Sr. and Margaret Johnson.
She was a member of Newell United Methodist Church where she was a former Lay Leader, Council Chairperson and President of the United Methodist Women.
Elsie was also a member of the Brownsville Ambulance Service who served as the former Chief Dispatcher, Ladies Auxiliary V. F. W. Post 21, and The Order of the Eastern Star Chapter No. 205 in Monessen, Pa.
She was a former member of Brownsville Assembly Order of Rainbow for Girls, Newell Santa Barbara Ladies Auxiliary, Newell Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and the Newell Recreation Committee.
She was preceded in death by her Husband, Edward “Johnnybull” Stevenson, a Brother, Clarence, and her Parents.
Surviving are a Son, Edward T. “Eddie” Stevenson at home; her beloved dog, Teddy; a Brother, Harry C. Johnson Jr. and his wife, Sophia, of Ranson, West Virginia; three Nieces; two great Nieces and two Great Nephews.
She is also survived by her Special Caregivers: Corinne, Paula, Amanda and Lisa; and her Special Friends that made her life wonderful throughout her long illness, Robin and Colleen, at Lunden’s Flower Shop; and all the Members and Crews of the Brownsville Ambulance Service.
Friends will be received in the SKIRPAN FUNERAL HOME, 135 Park Street, Brownsville, Pa., today from 6 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m.
Additional viewing will take place in NEWELL UNITED METHODIST CHURCH on Wednesday, February 23, from 10 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Funeral Service will be held at 11:30 a.m. in the Church with the Rev. James Pond and the Rev. Edwin McElory co-officiating.
Interment will follow in LaFayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill, Pa.
