William B. Heffern Jr.
William B. Heffern Jr., age 62, of Ralph, Pa., passed away Saturday, February 19, 2005, at home with his loving family by his side.
He was born September 9, 1942, in Uniontown, Pa., the son of William B. Heffern Sr. and Genevieve Ryan Heffern.
He was predeceased by his parents and two brothers, Kenneth and Gary.
“Bill” was a member of Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church in Republic, Pa.
He was a retired coal miner from United States Steel Corporation’s Robena Mine, a member of United Mine Workers of America District 2 Local 6321, a veteran of the Vietnam Conflict who served with the United States Army, a member of America Legion Post 753 in New Salem, Pa., the Fairbank Rod and Gun Club and the Newboro Indians Club.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Joann Seman Heffern; a son and two daughters: William B. Heffern III and his wife, Kathryn, of Sheboygan, Wisconsin, Lisa Connors and her husband Rick, and Melissa Heffern all of Ralph, Pa.; four grandchildren: Brittney Heffern, Tayler Heffern, Rickie Connors and Cassie Fisher; a sister and four brothers: Beverly Lovis and her husband, Robert, of Ralph, Regis Heffern and his wife, Rosalie, of Cleveland, Ohio, Robert Heffern and his wife, Marsha, of McDonald, Pa., Richard Heffern and his wife, Theresa, of Oakdale, Pa., and Timothy Heffern of Washington, Pa.; a sister-in-law, Kathy Heffern of Uniontown, Pa.; many nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received in the DEARTH FUNERAL HOME, 35 South Mill Street, New Salem, Pa., today from 2 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday, February 22, until 9:30 a.m. when brief prayers will be said.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. in Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, Republic, with the Rev. Father Stephen R. Bugay as Celebrant.
Interment will follow in LaFayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill, Pa., where Military Rites and Honors will be accorded by American Legion Post 753, New Salem.
A Parish Wake Service will be held in the Funeral Home today at 3:30 p.m.
