Melvin Wayne Cooley, 62, of Greensburg, Pa., died Monday, Feb. 21, 2005, at the Excela Westmoreland Region Hospital, Greensburg. Prior to retiring, he was employed by Pitt Industrial Diamond Company, and Penn Tool and Supply. He attended West Virginia University and was an active member of the Westmoreland Choral Society.

He is survived by his mother, Ruth (Riley) Cooley of Uniontown; his wife, Evelyn McDowell Makarsky Cooley; four children, Jeff Cooley and wife, Melanie of New Smyrna Beach, Fla., Lori Brill of Etters, Kelley Piantanida and husband, Dan of Oak Hurst, N.J., and Sean Cooley of Oak Harbor, Washington, serving in the U.S. Navy and his wife, Laura; a stepson, Mason Makarsky of Orlando, Fla.; a sister, Terry Thomas and husband, Arthur of Connellsville; and five grandchildren.

Family and friends will be received at the Kepple-Graft Funeral Home Inc., 524 North Main St., Greensburg on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the Central Fellowship Church, 316 North Main St., Greensburg, on Thursday, Feb. 24, 2005 at 11 a.m. (Everyone is asked to go directly to the church). In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 615 South Main St., Greensburg, PA 15601.
