State police said someone forced their way into Donna Varva’s Uniontown residence, ransacked a bedroom then fled the scene undetected sometime between 1:30 and 10:10 p.m. Friday. Anyone that may have witnessed the incident is urged to call state police in Uniontown at 724-439-7111.

Jennifer Harris, 19, of Uniontown was cited for criminal mischief after she allegedly slashed the rear right tire of the 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer belonging to Vaughn Gaines, 34, of Uniontown outside a Route 40 bar at 1:50 a.m. Thursday, state police said.
In a related incident, police cited Gaines for harassment after he allegedly struck, choked and shoved Harris at a Route 40 gas station between 2:45 and 3 a.m. Thursday.

Investigation ongoing
State police are looking for the man who reportedly approached Tracy Anderson, 31, of Uniontown, asked her for directions, then lunged at her in an effort to grab her purse while she was in front private residence along Connellsville Street at 8:45 p.m. Saturday. Police said Anderson escaped. The suspect fled towards Coolspring Street, police said.
Police described the man as a white male, about 5-feet-8-inches tall with a medium build and sandy brown short hair. Police said the man wore a black jacket and dark pants with light colored lines.

State police charged Samuel L. Kiss of Uniontown with criminal mischief after he allegedly kicked the fender of Uniontown resident Tiffany L. Gillen’s 1997 Nissan Altima and threw a brick through the driver side rear window of the car while it was parked outside 310 Woodview Terrace at 8:39 p.m. Friday.

State police filed charges of disorderly conduct and public drunkenness against Jeffrey D. Wise, 31, of Uniontown and Deana L. Bartos, 38, of Uniontown after an incident at the Perry-O-Motel along Route 51 at 1:45 a.m. Sunday. Police said charges were filed with Magisterial District Judge Michael Rubish.

Hit-and-run probed
State police said a 1994 Buick Century crossed the centerline on Route 201 and traveled across the northbound lane before it left the roadway and struck an embankment around midnight on Sunday. Police said the driver of the vehicle fled the scene before police and firefighters arrived. The vehicle was towed. The investigation is ongoing, police said.

Stolen dirt bike found
State police in Greensburg recovered a 2003 KTM 450 MXC dirt bike off Slope Hill Road near Mount Pleasant High School at 3:15 p.m. Saturday. The dirt bike was stolen from Fayette County on Nov. 28, 2004, police said. State police in Uniontown investigated the incident. Police said the dirt bike is valued at $5,500.

DUI arrest
Robert D. Halfhill, 58, of 2019 Third St., South Connellsville, was arrested for allegedly driving under the influence following a two-vehicle accident Sunday at 9 p.m., state police said. He allegedly failed to stop at a stop sign on Cummings Avenue before pulling out on to East Crawford Avenue, where Michele L. Langdon, 30, of 913 Kring St., Connellsville, struck him, police said. Langdon was not wearing a seatbelt and was injured, police said.

State police said someone tried to break into a garage on Flatwoods Road owned by Philip Thompson, 77, of Vanderbilt but were scared away by his son Sunday at 7 p.m. The suspect ran across a field and fled on an all-terrain vehicle.

One-car accident
State police said Gretchen Lynn Patterson, 30, Waynesburg lost control of a car on Route 21 west Friday at 12:42 a.m., crossed the eastbound lane and hit a guiderail. She was taken by ambulance to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, W.Va. The accident is under investigation. The township volunteer fire department and ambulance, and EMS Southwest assisted.

Amy R. Smith, 29, of Carmichaels and her passenger, Austin J. Smith, 9, suffered minor injuries after a vehicle she was driving slid on a snow-covered state road, hit a tree and went down an embankment Feb. 17 at 6:15 p.m., state police said.

State police said Patricia Phillips, 55, of Waynesburg lost control of a vehicle on an icy patch on an Interstate 79 bridge Feb. 17 at 7:35 p.m. and hit both sides of the bridge. No injuries were reported.

ATV reminder
Police said riding ATVs on city roadways is illegal and plan to increase enforcing violations for such incidents. Police reminded ATV operators that they don’t have to physically stop them to be cited and attempts to flee, other than posing serious danger to the operator of the ATV and innocent citizens, is a misdemeanor charge that will result in police impounding the ATV. Police also recommend that ATV operators take an approved safety course.

Police charged Michael A. Carbonara, 18, Joshua Kessler, 18, and David A. Senica Jr., 19, all of Connellsville, with receiving stolen property and conspiracy for an incident in which they allegedly stole prescription pills from a residence in the 200 block of South Prospect Street. All three will appear before Magisterial District Judge Ronald Haggerty at a later date.

Rebecca Buchtan, 32, of Rices Landing was arrested for allegedly driving under the influence following a two-vehicle accident Feb. 17 on Route 88, state police said. She allegedly lost control around a left curve, traveled into the oncoming lane and hit Amy Conard, 29, of Dilliner, who was injured, police said.

PFA violation
Police arrested Andrew Pletcher, 32, of Connellsville for indirect criminal contempt after he allegedly violated a Protection From Abuse order from his girlfriend Wednesday in the 600 block of 13th Street. Pletcher was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Dwight Shaner and placed in the Fayette County Prison in lieu of $5,000 straight cash bond. Pletcher will appear before Fayette County Court of Common Pleas Judge Ralph Warman at a later date.
