Abraham to handle Vernon’s cases

1 min read

With former South Union and Menallen Township Magisterial District Judge Rick Vernon retiring effective Tuesday, his cases will be transferred to Fairchance-area District Judge Randy Abraham. Fayette County President Judge Conrad B. Capuzzi handed down the order dispersing Vernon’s caseload on Tuesday.

Vernon, a Democrat, already has filed paperwork to run for South Union Township supervisor. He’s lived in the township his entire life and served as a district judge for the past 23 years.

He is running for the seat currently filled by Rock Coville, who Vernon said is not running for re-election. The other two township supervisors are Robert Schiffbauer and Tom Frankhouser.

Vernon expressed a desire to work with them, if elected, to better the township.

Several people have picked up petitions to run for Vernon’s office.
