Bullskin seeks bids for paving projects

BULLSKIN TWP. – Supervisors Wednesday agreed to solicit bids for the 2005 summer paving project. Supervisor John Coughenour said the board plans to resurface about 3.5 miles of roads. Streets and roads to be fixed include Hammondsville, East Keefer, Tuchoski, Clinton and Upper Spruce Hollow.

The bids for the road repairs are due back March 30 at 7 p.m. when they will be opened and a contract will be awarded by supervisors. The project is expected to cost no more than $115,000, according to Coughenour.

In a related matter, the supervisors said the Fayette County Redevelopment Authority issued a contract to Victor Paving to fix roads in the township through the Community Development Block Grant program.

The supervisors also agreed to apply for additional state liquid fuels money in the amount of $10,000. Coughenour said the township has not received money from this agent in about three years.

Supervisor Chairman Walter “Deb” Wiltrout said the township received confirmation that they will get two Tuesday. The first grant was for $5,000 and will be used by the Bullskin Historical Society while the second grant, in the amount of $10,000, will be used to replace guardrails in the Hammondsville area of the township near the Sportsman’s Club.

Wiltrout said the guardrails in that area are in “pretty bad shape” and need to be replaced. Supervisors also passed two resolutions Wednesday pertaining to the union and non-union pension plan. Coughenour said the resolutions are annually adopted and simply ensure that they are following procedures with the pension plan.
