Grants awarded
The Fayette County commissioners have received more than $1.1 million in two state HOME grants for two homebuyer development and rehabilitation projects.
According to state Sen. Richard A. Kasunic, a $600,000 will help support the Stone Church Estates Homebuyer Development Project in Redstone Township, and a $500,000 grant is being provided for Fayette County’s Homeowner Rehabilitation Program.
“These grants are aimed at stimulating economic development activity and making Fayette County a more attractive place for potential homebuyers and businesses,” Kasunic said.
In commenting on the grant awards, state Rep. Peter J. Daley (D-California) said, “Home ownership is an important aspect of a community’s economic climate. …These funds will help Redstone Township provide affordable housing opportunities, in addition to a better sense of community to its residents.”
The Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development administers the HOME grant program.
