Paul W. Kochis Jr.
Paul W. Kochis Jr., 60, of Uniontown, Pa., passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning, Feb. 23, 2005, at home with his loving wife, darling daughter and loving sister-in-law, Rita at his side. Born Jan. 2, 1945, in Lamberton, Pa., he was the son of the late Paul William “Bill” Kochis and Helen Jane Burke Kochis.
Paul was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving in Vietnam.
He was a member of St. Therese Roman Catholic Church, where he served as an usher, and was a graduate of the former German Township High School.
Paul retired from the Pennsylvania State Police after 25 years of service, serving at the Somerset barracks. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus of Uniontown, VFW Post 47, Catholic War Veterans, AMVETS Post 103, the Fraternal Order of the Police, American Legion of Masontown, American Legion Post 51, Eagles in Somerset, Pa., and American Association of State Troopers Inc. He was a state two year trustee of the Catholic War Veterans, he was the first Vice-Commander of Post 1669.
Paul is survived by his loving and devoted family, who loved him dearly. Surviving are his beloved wife of 37 years, Rose Marie Martelli Kochis and his darling daughter, as he called her, Janelle Kochis of Alexandria, Va. He is also survived by the Martelli Family, other relatives and numerous friends and neighbors, who loved and respected him.
He is also survived by his loving pet “Spanky”, who never left his side during his illness and truly loved him unconditionally.
Friends will be received in the STEPHEN E. KEZMARSKY III FUNERAL HOME AT 71 PENNSYLVANIA AVE., UNIONTOWN, PA., today from 7 to 9 p.m., Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and on Saturday morning until 8:30 a.m., when a Blessing Service will be held, followed by a 9 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Therese R.C. Church. Interment follows in Sylvan Heights Cemetery. Military Honors will be accorded at the graveside. Ritual for the Catholic War Veterans will be held Friday evening at 7 p.m.
