Flora J. Johns
On the 23rd of February, 2005, at the age of 78, Flora Jane Johns’ courageous battle with cancer came to a peaceful end in the Mon Valley Hospital as she was called home to her Savior Jesus Christ. Flora was born June 23, 1926, in Houston, Pa., a daughter of the late Floyd and Hazel Currie.
She will be sadly missed by three daughters and spouses, Charlea and Bill Tichnor of Elco, Hazel and Walter Mische of Stockdale and Cindy and Mike Burtyk of Clevleland, Ohio; grandchildren, Billy Tichnor and girlfriend Shila Rose of Brownsville, Angel, Destiny, Courtney and Raymond Tichnor, all of Elco, Jennifer Synuria of Pittsburgh, Melissa and David Lewis of Cleveland, Ohio; closest friends, Stella and Gloria; two sisters, Charlotte Drylie of Brownsville and Lavern Good of Washington, Pa.; nieces and nephews; along with her many friends.
Preceding her in death, along with her loving parents, a daughter, Cora (Cookie); first husband, Charles Leonard in 1977; and second husband, Robert (Hobby) Johns in 1985.
Most recently she was a member of the California United Methodist Church, and a former member of the Roscoe United Methodist Church.
She will always be remembered for her strong faith in the Lord, for being very patriotic, as she served as past officer in the Roscoe American Legion Auxiliary Post 801, and also loved to play bingo.
Friends will be received today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the ED MELENYZER FUNERAL HOMES, INC., Roscoe, and Saturday from 9 to 10:30 a.m. in the Roscoe United Methodist Church, where the funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., with Pastor Terry Teluch officiating. Interment will follow in Howe Cemetery, Coal Center, Pa.
