Garnet (McGee) Dawson Letavec
Garnet (McGee) Dawson Letavec, age 84 years, of Fairchance, Pa., passed away Friday, December 31, 2004, at the home of her sister, Loraine Prontiker, in McKeesport, Pa.
She was born in Nicholson Township, Fayette County, Pa., on January 11, 1920, a daughter of the now late Walter E. McGee Sr. and Bessie Blanch Bowman McGee.
She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Fairchance, Pa., and in recent years had attended the First Baptist Church of Fairchance, Pa.
She was a member of The Golden Agers and The Circle Club both in Uniontown, Pa.
She had been employed by the Houze Glass Factory in Point Marion for 12 years and was retired from the former Rockwell International in Uniontown, Pa.
She is survived by three grandchildren: Robert Kopetsky and wife, Candy, of California state, Michael Kopetsky of Ohio and Lawrence E. Dawson Jr. of North Huntingdon, Pa.; one great grandson; six step grandchildren; the following brothers and sisters: Everett McGee of McKeesport, Pa., Arthur McGee and his wife, Jean, of Uniontown, Pa., Betty O’Shell and her husband, Clinton, of West Mifflin, Pa., and Loraine Prontiker of McKeesport, Pa., with whom she made her home.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a daughter, Joann Dawson Kopetsky, two twin daughters, Emma Jean and Geraldine Dawson, a son, Lawrence Edward Dawson, and the following brothers and sisters: Paul McGee Sr., James H. McGee, Elsie Harold, George McGee, Delbert McGee, Rebecca Jane McGee and Russell C. McGee.
The Family will receive Friends in the JOHN F. BROWNFIELD FUNERAL HOME OF SMITHFIELD, Pa., on Monday, January 3, 2005, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and on Tuesday, January 4, 2005, until 11 a.m., the hour of Service with the Rev. Robert C. Ford, Pastor of First Baptist Church of Fairchance, officiating.
Interment will follow in Pleasant View I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Smithfield, Pa.
The Circle Club of Uniontown will conduct services in the Funeral Home on Monday evening at 7 p.m.
