Helen Helmick Pierno, age 86, of Stow, Ohio, and formerly of New Salem, Pa., passed away Saturday, January 15, 2005, in Heather Knoll Rehabilitation Center, Tallmadge, Ohio.

She was born July 18, 1918, in Dearth, Fayette County, Pa., the daughter of Elsworth Helmick Jr. and Georgia Fee Helmick.

Helen was a member of Saint Procopius Roman Catholic Church in New Salem.

She was predeceased by her husband, George Pierno Sr. in 1988, her parents, and these brothers and sisters, James, Glenn and Betty Ann Helmick and Marie Bussa.

She is survived by a son, George Pierno Jr. and his wife, Antonette, of Stow, Ohio; a daughter, Pat Pierno of Oak Forest, Illinois; three grandchildren: George David Pierno of New Salem, Shawn Goralzick of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Douglas Paul Pierno of Weatherly, Pa.; and a great grandson, Douglas Pierno.

Friends will be received in the DEARTH FUNERAL HOME, 35 South Mill Street, New Salem, Pa., today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday, January 19, until 11 a.m. when a Blessing Service will be held with the Rev. Father James L. Popchocck officiating.

Entombment will follow in Chapel of Memories Mausoleum at Sylvan Heights Cemetery, Uniontown, Pa.
